Divorce Information Day: a look into the future - 15 September 2010 The first Divorce Information Day will take place on 15 September 2010. On this day, our lawyers invite your queries about how to best handle the dissolution of marriage or cohabitation agreements. We also invite questions on related matters such as custody and contact and access issues, determination or modification of partner and child maintenance, sharing of pension rights, distribution of assets and the settlement of prenuptial and cohabitation agreements. Background to Divorce Information Day This is an initiative of the vFAS (Dutch Association of Family Law Lawyers and Divorce Mediators). The vFAS is keen to increase awareness of the far-reaching social consequences of divorce and of the importance of a respectful divorce, well facilitated by lawyers specialising in family law. It is no coincidence that this Divorce Information Day will take place on 15 September 2010. It was on that day in 1796 that the first divorce was pronounced in the Netherlands, which was between Wilhelmus Meers and Agatha Lenaerts.
